Varicose Veins Information

More than a problem of health, varicose veins cause an unsightly appearance. There are varying degrees of varicose veins: very small and easy to deal with the major strands that protrude from the skin without mercy. Usually affects women: one in ten women suffers.

It is the name given to the appearance of dilated veins in the lower limbs (legs). Medicine uses a broader term: venous insufficiency of the lower limbs. Venous insufficiency, such as diabetes or hypertension, is a disease chronic, there is no cure, but can be controlled. The treatments available to meet the goal of improving the quality of life of patients and the aesthetics of the legs, but does not cure the disease.

They develop from an inadequate function of the veins. In a normal situation, the lower limb veins pump blood back to heart, lest he fall by gravity. For many reasons, however, these veins are enlarged, dilated or decrease, altering the normal passage of blood and contributing to the stagnation of blood flow to the major veins standing out on the skin.

First note that the disease usually appears in adulthood. Varicose veins are rare in very young people, in these cases, their presence may be due to trauma or birth defects.

Although it seems ironic, if we were not bipedal (walking on two feet), one would probably suffer.
